The United Arab Emirates decided to include 21 individuals and entities on the local terrorist list, due to their association with the Lebanese Hezbollah.
This was stated in Resolution No. (63) issued by the Council of Ministers regarding the approval of the list of terrorist persons and organizations, which included the inclusion of 16 individuals and 5 entities on the local terrorist list, in accordance with the laws and legislation adopted in the UAE.
According to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, “The decision comes within the framework of the UAE’s keenness to strengthen international cooperation to combat the financing of terrorism by coordinating joint efforts at the regional and international levels to target and disrupt networks linked to the financing of terrorism and the activities associated with it, directly and indirectly.”
According to the decision, all regulatory authorities must identify any individual or entity affiliated with or linked to any financial or commercial relationship with the individuals and entities named in the decision, and take the necessary measures in accordance with the laws in force in the country, including a freeze in less than 24 hours.
WAM stated that the decision reflects the UAE’s firm and firm position towards combating “terrorism and extremism” in all its forms and manifestations, and preventing any sources of funding for “terrorist” groups and entities, within the framework of the state’s commitment to enhancing security and stability, and confronting everything that threatens the safety of societies or aims to undermine regional and international peace.
The Emirates News Agency said: “The UAE is making extensive efforts to combat extremism and terrorism through a comprehensive vision that combines security and intellectual measures, monitoring suspicious financial channels and drying up sources of illicit support, in order to ensure that these scourges are besieged, their spread is limited, and cross-border financing is eliminated.”
